Are Braces Affordable? Grants Pass, OR
Wondering if braces are affordable? The good news is that as the technology for braces improves, so too does its price. Braces have never been this affordable for patients, especially if you opt to get them at our Robinson Orthodontics clinic. With that said, there is a large variability in how much braces will cost, mostly due to the material of choice used in making them. In most cases, you should be expected to spend anywhere from $3,500 to $10,000 (or even higher) on braces. Popular materials include metal, ceramic, and lingual braces, among others. The least expensive braces are metal, at just under $3,500. Ceramic braces are a bit more expensive at $4,500, while lingual braces start at $8,000. Let's take a more comprehensive look at the prices of braces.
Regular Metal Braces
Traditional braces consist of fixed wires and small brackets that apply pressure to each tooth, forcing them into the correct position. The brackets are made of metal and often feature clear elastic rubber bands. The prices of metal braces start at just above $3,000. A major disadvantage of metal braces is that you'll be asked to avoid certain foods, such as corn on the cob and gum, that could get stuck in the brackets.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces, often referred to as clear braces, share many similarities with metal braces except for the design. They are made of brackets that mimic the color of natural teeth, allowing them to blend in with the patient's real teeth and becoming less noticeable in the process. The price of clear braces starts at just around $4,500 and could easily go up to $8,000, depending on the patient's needs.
Invisalign
Invisalign are removable aligners that do the same job as regular braces. They don't feature brackets and wires, making them much more comfortable for adult wearers. Invisalign aligners are almost invisible, meaning that no one will notice them. The best part is that Invisalign may yield better results than traditional braces. To put things in perspective, regular braces have a treatment timeline of about 24 months, while Invisalign cuts their timeline down to just 12 months. Note that your results depend on how complex your treatment plan is. The prices for Invisalign start at about $4,000, which is very comparable to that of traditional braces.
Clear Self-Ligating Braces
Self-ligating braces use specialized brackets to hold the arch wire in its place. This provides a superior experience to patients because self-ligating braces are more comfortable, easier to clean, and often require fewer appointments with dentists. Moreover, because of their clear design, self-ligating braces are nearly invisible. At a starting price of just about $2,500, clear self-ligating braces may be the most affordable type of braces yet.
