***COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update***
To Our Valued Patients at Robinson Orthodontics,
On the evening of March 18, 2020, Governor Kate Brown announced a temporary Order/Mandate requiring all Oregon hospitals, outpatient clinics, and health care providers, (including veterinarians, dentists and orthodontists) to immediately cease performing all non-emergency procedures. We do not yet know how long this order will remain in effect, but we will update this notice and contact our patients directly once the restrictive order has been removed by the governor.
In compliance with this temporary order, Robinson Orthodontics will only be able to see patients who are experieng an orthodontic emergency. This includes:
•  Orthodontic-related pain that cannot be comforted with wax or over-the-counter pain relievers, Clipping or adjustment of an orthodontic wire or appliance that is piercing or ulcerating the mucosa.
•  Trauma to the mouth and/or braces that requires urgent attention.
•  Any orthodontic occurrence/situation that you feel could lead to a significant negative outcome if left untreated.
If you are uncertain whether or not your situation is an orthodontic emergency, please contact me directly at (541) 295-0667. I have received guidance from the Oregon Board of Dentistry to evaluate each patient on a case-by-case basis for emergency care, and I will make certain that you are cared for appropriately.
Our team at Robinson Orthodontics will proactively be reaching out to our patients who have scheduled appointments and assist them with rescheduling at a future date.
This is a challenging time for everyone in our community and throughout our country and the world. We appreciate your understanding and are grateful for your support and cooperation. Please stay healthy and safe!

Self-Ligating Braces
Grants Pass, OR

Jianna, a patient at Robinson Orthodontics in Grants Pass, OR When you think about braces, you probably picture traditional metal braces. They have been correcting smiles for many, many years. While traditional metal braces have done their job, they have not been without problems.Traditional metal braces can be uncomfortable to wear, and they take a long time.

It can also be difficult to keep traditional metal braces clean because it is easy to get food stuck in them. There is a new type of metal braces that are now making people smile. These are self-ligating braces. If you would like to learn more, we here at Robinson Orthodontics would love to tell you why Damon braces are making such a difference for so many people.

The Benefits of Self-Ligating Braces

Self-ligating braces have many benefits that you will not find with traditional metal braces or even aligners. Here are some of them.

Unlike traditional braces, self-ligating braces use a self-litigating system. This means that they will adjust as your teeth are corrected. This makes them more comfortable. It also means that you will have to spend less time at our office. The self-ligating braces do not need to be tightened and adjusted all the time as traditional braces do. You will still come in and see us; it just might not be as often.

When a patient receives traditional braces, there is often a complaint about pain. That does not happen nearly as often with self-ligating braces. They provide much more comfort.

One major benefit of self-ligating braces is that they do not need to be worn as long as traditional braces do. Traditional braces are often on for up to two years. Self-ligating braces can often be worn about six months less than that. To a teenager, that is a very big difference.

Clear Self-Ligating braces are also appealing to adults. They only use one strip of wire, and the brackets can be clear. This means that they are not as obvious as traditional braces.

One of the hardest things to do with traditional metal braces is to keep the teeth and braces clean because food will get caught in them all too often. That is not a problem with self-ligating braces. Because of the way that they are designed, food will not get caught in them. If there is food in your self ligating braces, it is easy enough to brush it away.

Self-ligating are also better for your overall oral hygiene. Since it is so hard to get food trapped in them, there will be less of a chance for plaque and bacteria to build up. That is another way that your teeth will stay cleaner.

With self-ligating braces, you have another choice to straighten your teeth. Here at Robinson Orthodontics, we have found that self-ligating braces make things easier both for the patients and also for our staff. If you want to straighten your teeth and would like to learn more about self-ligating braces, call our office at (541) 441-8288. We think that you will like what we have to say about them.
